what is a womble?

trip-3-about-copy

The Wombles are fictional pointy-nosed, furry creatures created by author Elisabeth Beresford, originally appearing in a series of children’s novels from 1968. They live in burrows, where they take items that other people view as junk and turn them into creative new inventions. I am a Kitchen Womble, and that means I love to spend my time creating edible items from scratch (I do not recycle food for eating). I take care in the packaging and presentation of the food I make because I like pretty things.

I can’t think of a time when I didn’t love food. I like everything about it (except the dishes, I do not like the dishes). It’s in my blood, I suppose –  my mum was a weekend baker and my dad is a devoted foodie (he and my step-mom even opened a restaurant when I was growing up). I love how food brings people together, and that’s why I spend time in the kitchen- to make that happen. I’d love to make it happen for you and your people too.

Flavors I’m excited about

Botanicals and Herbs. I love to infuse shortbread with lavender or bergamot and lace my frosting with rose water. Herbs are more than just garnish, they are incredible, fresh flavour-punches in any meal.
Cured Meats. Smokey and salty, with a sweetness I cannot get enough of.
Olives. All kinds. You love or hate them, I love them.
